Our history
A story that began in 1979, when the union of nine dairy farms gave birth, in Fidenza, to the Parma2064 dairy. From there we inherited the desire to pass on the centuries-old tradition of local cheesemaking, and the determination to improve while fully respecting the strict regulations of the Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese Consortium.
In 2014, the launch of the Parma2064 brand gave new vigour to the dairy through the collaboration of five farms operating in the heart of the Po Valley: Cascina “Margherita”, La Rinascente Società Agricola, Società Agricola Colombarola, Società Agricola Fratelli Tonoli and Società Agricola Vighi Mauro e Luigi.
In the brand, the name “Parma” points to the place of origin of excellence, between Soragna and Busseto, which gave birth to and inspired Giuseppe Verdi. We like to think that Parma2064 is part of a great symphony of quality of life: a synthesis of music, nature and food, the heart of the Food Valley par excellence. “2064” is the registration number given to the Fidenza dairy by the Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese Consortium, historically the first dairy run by our cooperative.
How we work
The awards received by Parmigiano Reggiano Parma2064 – among them a Supergold at the World Cheese Awards – are the result of commitment and passion. We faithfully follow the stages set by the Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese Protection Consortium, with a production chain without shortcuts.
By combining technological innovation with traditional production processes, our method is considered a model of sustainability in the heart of the Parmigiano Reggiano PDO area. In recent years we have also broadened what we offer, producing Halal-certified Parmigiano Reggiano.
The dairy
The Fidenza dairy – San Michele Campagna – is the cooperative’s main facility, dedicated to the production of the conventional Parmigiano Reggiano PDO line and of Halal-certified Parmigiano Reggiano PDO, in their various ages.
We are a company that cares about animal welfare, about the well-being of those who work at our dairy and about the environment; small gestures and daily actions show it, and they are what make this a calm and pleasant place for everyone.
